Get Started with Naming Conventions of Campaigns, Modules and Contact Lists
Even if the platform structure feels clear to you, it may not be as obvious to others—especially for users who don’t work with it daily. Consistent and logical naming conventions help everyone understand, manage, and collaborate more effectively.
Why Naming Conventions Matter
Clear naming helps you:
- Understand campaign logic at a glance
- Collaborate more easily with colleagues
- Troubleshoot issues faster
- Scale and reuse content efficiently
Campaign Naming
Campaigns are often reusable, so their names should be:
- Clear and descriptive
- Consistent across similar use cases
If you have multiple campaigns with similar content, consider centralizing them and reusing the same structure. This improves clarity and makes it easier to manage communication as a whole.
Module Naming
Modules are reusable building blocks, so their names should describe:
- The content or purpose of the module
- Not just the campaign they are used in
❌ Avoid:
LoanRenewal_Module
✅ Prefer:
IntroCall_EligibilityCheck
ReminderCall_Soft_PaymentLink
Action Naming
LoanRenewal_Sequence_2025
→ Step1_IntroCall
→ Question3_EligibilityCheck
This structure makes it immediately clear:
- What the campaign is about
- What step you’re looking at
- What the purpose of each element is
Contact List Naming
A good contact list name typically includes:
- Date (when the list was created or used)
- Target group description
- Internal identifier (if applicable)
Example:
2025-03-15_LoanRenewal_EligibleCustomers_v1
This makes it easy to understand:
- When the list was created
- Who it targets
- How it relates to other internal processes and systems
Summary
Good naming conventions:
- Reduce confusion
- Improve collaboration
- Make campaigns easier to maintain and reuse
- Enable a clear overall view of recent communication directly from Monthly Reports and the Dashboard.
Investing a little time in naming upfront will save a lot of time later.
